Colder weather + allergies = headaches!!

I don't know about you, but when this wacky Missouri weather starts to turn, my allergies do not respond well. Warm afternoons sandwiched between cold mornings and nights leave my head in a fog and often with a lingering headache.

Try some of these tips that I found help relieve my tension, stress and allergy headaches before reaching for the asprin bottle:

-Find if your headaches have a trigger (food, stress, certain smells or lighting etc.)
-Use peppermint pure essential oil on your temples and wrists (straight out of the bottle, or mix it with lotion or another carrier oil)
-Find the pressure point on the webbing between your first finger and thumb and squeeze the tar out of it!
-Lots of water, save the caffeine for later if none of the above methods are working
-Go take a nap
-Use your fingertips to gently strum the tendons in your neck at the base of your head
-Go get a massage! :)

Massage has a history of helping to relieve headaches - keep in mind though, massage is much more helpful on muscle, stress, and tension headaches than on vascular headaches. There are still benefits, but mixed therapies (adding aromatherapy to the massage, heat or cold packs etc.) are much more likely to achieve the desired relief.

Feel free to post, e-mail or call me with questions or comments.
